Turkey brine process made easy

Brining a turkey is a great way to add flavour and moisture to your Turkey roasts. By soaking the turkey in a saltwater solution before cooking, you can help to keep the meat juicy and flavorful.

Here are a few tips to help you achieve the perfect brine:

  1. Choose the right container: You will need a large container to hold the brine and the turkey. A food-grade plastic bucket or a clean, heavy-duty garbage bag will work well. Just make sure the container is large enough to hold the turkey and the brine, and that it can be sealed tightly.

  2. Use the right amount of salt: The key to a good brine is using the right amount of salt. Aim for a solution that is about 10-20% salt by weight. You can use kosher salt or sea salt for the brine.

  3. Add flavor: In addition to salt, you can add other ingredients to the brine to give it flavor. Some good options include sugar, bay leaves, garlic, peppercorns, and herbs.

  4. Keep it cold: Make sure to keep the brine and the turkey cold while they are soaking. You can either store the brine and turkey in the refrigerator, or you can use ice to keep the brine cold.

  5. Know how long to brine: How long you brine the turkey will depend on its size. A general rule of thumb is to brine a turkey for about 1 hour per pound. So, if you have a 10-pound turkey, you will want to brine it for about 10 hours.

  6. Rinse and pat dry: After the turkey has finished brining, be sure to rinse it off and pat it dry before cooking. This will help to remove any excess salt and prevent the skin from becoming too salty.

Back last year we got together with SoCal BBQ Shop and Traeger grills UK to brine up some beautiful turkeys ready in time for Thanksgiving.

It was a super simple process that imparted loads of flavour into the turkey that came through with every bite.

By following these tips, you can create a flavorful and moist turkey that will be the star of your roast dinner feast.

Happy cooking!
